VOB and CDR pull out of Images for the Future

17 September 2010 In consultation with the other partners, the Association of Public Libraries (Vereniging Openbare Bibliotheken – VOB) and the Central Discotheque of Rotterdam (Centrale Discotheek Rotterdam – CDR) have withdrawn from the Images for the Future consortium.

Location, location, location: Mapit1418

31 August 2009 During History Week (October 17 until October 25 2009) Knowledgeland and the National Archive will present the website MapIt1418. “War and Peace” is the theme of the week and this initiative corresponds nicely to it: the site gives access to an exceptional selection of First World War photo material from the National Archive. On this site special attention is given to photos from the Netherlands during the time of war, many of which have never been displayed before.

Open up the goldmine in the UK

“The cultural heritage community sits on a goldmine of images, texts, sounds, films, video, data and metadata of immense interest to wide variety of of specific sectors and the general public.” With that statement Jordan S. Hatcher and Eduserv open the Snapshot study on the use of open content licenses in the UK cultural heritage sector. 107 Cultural heritage organisations participated in the UK-wide survey.
